October 2024 Bulletin

This is the last bulletin I am scheduled to do for this season, (unless something hugely important occurs).

The last day before shutting up the Hut for winter will be Sunday, 27th October, so do get everything you think you might need before then.

Potato/onion orders will close this Sunday October 6th. After that, you will have to wait until they arrive in January and choose from what we have spare. There will be a good selection but perhaps not what you could have pre-ordered. Seed orders will still be taken up to the end of October when the Hut closes, for those that wish to do so.

It‘s been a miserable summer weather-wise and this year we thought the Show exhibits would be down but they weren’t! The dahlias were particularly strong this year, as were the peppers. Thank you to all who volunteered in helping the Show and all those who sponsored or supported us other ways.

If you did not collect your certificates or left any photos that you exhibited, please come and collect from the Hut before the end of the season.Next year, the subject matter for the 3 Photography categories have been decided and are as follows:Cobweb; wheel(s); beesThe main cake decision is a Cherry and coconut cake and the recipe will be printed in the schedule. The committee will be blind sampling more recipes for the small cake decision but that hasn’t taken place yet. That will hopefully be announced in the Spring newsletter and on Facebook.

All Hut helpers should soon be receiving their rota for next year or you can collect it when next on duty at the Hut.

So that’s it from me and the rest of the committee for this year. Our next communication will probably be the twice-yearly newsletter, the Spring edition will be despatched at the very beginning of January via email, to all those who have given us their address. For those who haven’t got an email address, it will be sent via post. And of course, don’t forget our Facebook page which is gradually accumulating more followers and always worth a look www.facebook.com/NLWGA

After 27th October we will not be open again until the New Year which is from Saturday 4th January 2025 – so Happy Christmas!!!!!
