February 2024 Bulletin

The potatoes, summer onions and shallots came in mid-January as notified. There were some spares ordered for those that didn’t order last autumn but there are very few left.  If you still want some, you had better come this weekend! When they are gone, they are gone, there will be no further deliveries.

The Show sponsorship lists are open.  We could not put on the show without sponsorship and donations. All donations are gratefully received and we would invite Association members to sponsor one or more classes in the show e.g., a vegetable or flower class that is a particular favourite, or perhaps in memory of a loved one who has passed away. If you would like to sponsor one or more fruit, vegetable or flower classes in the 2024 show, the list is available at the Hut and is £6 per class. If any of you are part of an organisation who might be willing to sponsor our show, please let us know. A business/organisation can sponsor any amount, or a minimum of £25 for a small advert in the Show schedule.

The trip list is also open. Harlow Carr on Wednesday 7th August at £20 each and the pick-up points are the two that we always offered. The cut-off date for booking (and paying at the same time) is June 15th.  There may be another trip, this has yet to be decided – I’ll let you know.

The new greenhouse is now finished.  There’s nothing in there at the moment but we will be filling it with bedding plants in mid-March as usual.

Best wishes

The Hut is now closed. It will reopen on the 4th January 2025.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.

May we take this opportunity to wish you a pleasant Christmas, however you celebrate it, and a safe and happy new year.

From everyone at the Newton Le Willows Gardeners Association.
