May 2024 Bulletin

This coming weekend we will be open as usual but we’ll also be adding an extra day. As part of our centenary celebrations, we will be open on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th, 10.30-12, with tea, cake and something extra special. We will be opening on Bank Holiday Monday May 27th 10.30-12 too.

Spray chrysanthemums will be available this weekend if anyone wants to have a go at exhibiting at the Show in September. Orange and Ruby Wedding varieties, £1 each.

The greenhouse still has plenty of bedding plants and vegetable seedlings.  The bacopas have gone but there’s plenty of other bedding plants still available as we’ve added more – bidens, gazanias, salvia, balsam, as well as different colours of diascia, nemesia, calibrachoa, osteospermums and fuchsia. There are also some small hanging baskets, readymade for you at £7.
The committee and other members have been growing some of the vegetables and bringing in their leftovers – this is why when you might come in asking for a certain variety, we’re never quite sure until they arrive.  For instance, if you’re looking for tomatoes and when you come in one day you can’t find any variety that you like, it may be that if you come back another day, someone will have donated some – always worth a quick trip to check.  There are also a few herbaceous perennials and herbs on the bench outside the polytunnel.
If you do want any of the bedding or veg plants, do bring your own container to take them away if you can.

A short e-bulletin this month but then, we’re all busy in the garden/allotment at this time of year, especially since there are two Bank Holidays this month as well.
